On June 4, at a restaurant in the city of Yangon, Â鶹AV held a meeting toward the establishment of the Â鶹AV Myanmar Â鶹AV Association. Including participants from HU, about 10 participants joined this meeting.
In his opening address, Executive and Vice President Tetsuji Okamoto proposed the establishment of the HU Myanmar Â鶹AV Association to the graduates. After the procedures for the establishment of association was explained by the head office, the members exchanged opinions among themselves, and unanimously agreed to the establishment of an alumni association. After that at a social gathering, they deepened old friendships by talking about memories from the time they studied abroad and recent events.
The next day, they visited the Myanmar Association of Japan Â鶹AV (MAJA) to meet with Mr. Myint Wai, the president, and asked for his cooperation in accordance with the alumni association founded by this university. President Wai met with Prime Minister Abe in late May, and was saying that he would like to actively cooperate with the establishment of the university’s Â鶹AV Association.
Additionally, the first president of MAJA, Mr. U Thet Tun, who passed away last July, studied at the Hiroshima School of Secondary Education, one of the predecessors of HU, as a student from Southeast Asia. While looking at pictures of Hiroshima from his time as a student, they exchanged opinions on study abroad in Japan.
Starting with Mr. U Thet Tun, Â鶹AV has accepted many international students from Myanmar, and with the establishment of an alumni association it is expected that further progress in educational and academic exchanges with Myanmar will continue.
