On November 30 and December 1, students from Â鶹AV School of Education's Human Life Sciences Course took part in the 1st Baumkuchen Arrangement Recipe Contest, where they sold their original baumkuchen creations.

The students worked hard to develop their baumkuchen through repeated trial and error in preparation for the event. Sales began at 11 a.m. on the first day of the contest, with 100 baumkuchen available. By 2 p.m., just three hours after the start, they were completely sold out. Many customers purchased the products even during the morning hours, showing the great appeal of their work.

On the second day, 200 baumkuchen¡ªdouble the amount from the first day¡ªwere sold. Reflecting on the first day's experience, improvements were made¡ªsuch as explaining the unique features of the baumkuchen more clearly to customers and changing the way the product was presented¡ªto encourage more people to make a purchase.
Additionally, leveraging the opportunity presented by the 2025 Osaka-Kansai Expo, interactions were held with representatives from the Republic of Cameroon, the African country with the most member cities in the Mayors for Peace initiative. The students listened to stories about Cameroon, and had them sample the baumkuchen, allowing them to connect with the world through their creations.
Finally, the eagerly awaited results were announced. Remarkably, the team was honored with the "Cameroon Special Prize" and the "Sales Speed Award."

Over these two days, thanks to the support of many people, the students were able to successfully complete the contest.
Student¡¯s Reflection
The success of our sales during this contest was made possible thanks to the support of the stakeholders at Setoda Lemon Cake Shimagocoro, including its owner and chef Mr. Okumoto, the university faculty and staff, and local community members. We are truly grateful.
Since this was our first sales experience, there were many things we didn¡¯t understand during the preparation phase. However, on the event day, we were able to enjoy the process of selling thanks to the warm support of the organizers and customers.
At the same time, we experienced firsthand the challenges of selling, especially when items didn¡¯t sell as quickly as we hoped. Through this, we identified areas for improvement, such as increasing the variety of products and enhancing their presentation.
We were thrilled to receive awards for both taste and sales speed. It meant a lot to have our efforts recognized in this way.
By actually selling our baumkuchen, we were able to experience the joy of seeing them reach many customers and bring smiles to their faces. We want to make the most of this valuable experience as we continue to improve and promote our baumkuchen!
